I have passed my puppy training class!
Although M & D think the certificate does not reflect my performance, and needs to be modified. Oh wow, that’s good news because I thought I did so well that I deserve to be recogn…….. oh!
…. Ah, And how was I not obedient? What do you mean “Let you count the ways?”
OK so I bounced all over every dog who came near. I just wanted to play, especially with Pickle because I LURVE Pickle. But that was it, wasn’t it.
OK so I wouldn’t sit when asked, a lot. But the floor was very slippery and difficult for me to sit on with my shiny coat. You know I prefer to lie down.
OK so I wouldn’t stay lying down very often. In my defence, I did want to get up and get on with the next exercise. [Editor’s note: For “next exercise” read “jump up at the bag of treats”]
OK so you did at one point end up walking across the floor with me lying on my back, feet in the air, sliding along the shiny floor.
OK I know I was supposed to be calmly greeting another dog by quietly sitting. a) I would refer you to the answer I gave earlier on the subject of sitting and b) surely being submissive was even better than sitting?
OK so I know that I was supposed to be walking again by the time I was being pulled along on my back but you got to admit it raised a laugh.
OK I know I wasn’t there to be the class clown but Anna told Dad that that was Labradors, so I can’t help it can I?
OK so I know that I didn’t do anything unless I was rewarded with food before, during and after the exercise but in my defence I am a Labrador and food is what Labradors love the best (although there is Pickle the lovely yellow girl Labrador to consider.) No… food. Or Pickle….. No, food, definitely food.
Oh well, maybe the obedience can be worked on another time.
What? There IS another time? Next Steps class? Starting next week for 6 weeks?
But hang on, all the other school pupils are on summer holidays, what about me? You need to take the opportunity of the puppy training window? You know you’re just talking gobbledegook now?
Oh well, if we must. I promise to be on my best behaviour.
PS Bring treats.
Angus
Well done Angus although it sounds as if it was a jolly to you. Do they really give out certificatesxx
Angus you are my type of dawg!
Hold that thought till Saturday…
