Catch Up!

It’s been a few days since my last post so I thought I would bring you up to date. Let’s see, where shall I start?

Small Human

Ooh yes, on Sunday I had a special treat because a small human – I think they call them boys or girls, although this one was definitely a boy – came to stay the night, so I got to play with him a lot.  And didn’t he behave well?  Even when I accidentally nipped him.  (Sorry about that Douglas.)  I also got to train him a little – he was soon delivering treats when I did my signature ‘sit.’  These humans are such a pushover.  You can get them to give you almost anything in return for a ‘come,’ or a ‘sit.’  And the younger they are, the easier they are to train.  Perhaps when I’m older I might allow him to sleep with me.  I can take his bed and he can squeeze in next to me, or sleep on the floor, whatever.

Rain, rain go away!

Yesterday was very rainy and windy so I didn’t want to go out much, even for a wee. Oops! Well, when you’re tiny like me you don’t want to get blown away.  [Editor’s note:  “Tiny!”  “Hah!”]  So we played various indoor versions of Conan the Destroyer, in which I took the part of Conan, naturally.

Car Ride

Today was much nicer.  The rain stopped and the sun came out so Mum & Dad took me out in the car.  Previously I haven’t enjoyed the car very much.  I was OK on the way home from the breeder in Corbridge, when my new Mum let me sit on her lap on the back seat, but since then I have had to travel in a special crate in the very back of the car, on my own, which is not so nice.  I thought I might be able to get them to change their minds if I sang a little (OK, a LOT) but that did not seem to work.  They are such a hard–hearted pair.  But today I was allowed to have some treats while I was being driven along and that took my mind off it.  Turns out it’s not so bad after all.

Shopping

We took at trip to Pets At Home where Mum and Dad stocked up on treats for me, while I said hello to some nice people who went all soppy over me for being so cute. Well that’s all very well but why was there no food as a reward?  It’s hard work being cute you know.  Then we stopped off at a place called M&S which was boring because I wasn’t allowed inside, and because Dad also said it was, although he swore me to secrecy. So I stayed in the car with Dad and said hello to some more passers by. Still no food rewards though.  Disappointing.

Gardening

When we got home I decided it was time for a bit of light gardening.  The box of lemon balm just outside the back door has been looking in need of thinning out for a week or so but my legs were too short for me to do anything about it.  Until now. Here I am, hard at work…

Yes?  Is there something you want?  Can’t you see I’m busy?

Dad pointed out that I did not have to eat all the deadwood and prunings, and put it all in the bin.  Once again, spoilsport!  He did sound quite exasperated as he said it.  Come to think of it, now I recall, the phrase “Oh, Angus!” has been heard quite a lot recently.  What?  I am only trying to help.

Assistance Dog

And, finally, today I have also been practising at being an assistance dog because I have heard that that’s what a lot of Labradors do?  So I began by taking the washing out of the washing machine and sorting it into piles around the kitchen (after killing it of course).  The strange thing is that no sooner had I removed and sorted it than Mum put it back in again.  After another “Oh, Angus!” Mum explained that whilst it was very cute, it would be more helpful after she had washed it. There’s no pleasing some people.

That’s all for now.

Angus
