Today I met a crocodile in the woods!

Crocodiles seem to be a bit of a theme.

The other day I met lots of people outside the local sports centre. One little boy crouched down to play with me which was fun, and as he walked away he said to his mum that I had teeth like a crocodile’s.

I had almost forgotten the incident until today when we were walking in Dukehouse woods and Dad said he could see a crocodile in the distance.  Well, not to put too fine a point on it, when you are only an 11-week old puppy, the prospect of meeting up with a crocodile is just a little bit scary.  So discretion being the better part of valour I decided to hide and what better place than behind Dad?  After all, if the crocodile has to choose between a little puppy and a large man, it’s obvious which one he’s going to choose (and believe me, the large man is a very generous helping these days, if you know what I mean!) [Editor’s note:  Oi, watch it!]

For those of you who aren’t sure, a crocodile is a large sinuous animal with a snappy bit at the front.  Well, this one got closer and closer and then transformed into a line of children.  The snappy thing at the head was a teacher!  Phew, that was a relief!  I came out from behind Dad’s legs and sat to attention as they went past.  There were lot’s “Aahs” and “Look at the cute little puppy” but once again, I am disappointed to report, a complete lack of food.  I mean these children were visiting the outward bound centre at Dukeshouse and learning all about emergency rations.  What greater emergency can there be than a poor starving puppy?

  1. Oh! Angus Dad was such a big tease wasn’t he. There aren’t any real crocs in your woods. Children are good to play with.
